InQuira Discussion Forums is built on top of InQuira Information Manager, making it is easy to for companies to capture forum content as knowledge articles. Users with privileges have the ability to click to recommend or contribute content from a forum topic, easily capturing questions and solutions for publication as formal knowledge content.

Navigation and Filtering of Topics and Messages

Discussion Forums includes features for users to navigate and find information within the forums, such as navigating forums by product category, quickly viewing popular or recent topics by category, filtering replies to topic questions by those marked as solutions, or quickly listing all of the user's individual questions posted to the forums. In addition, topics are marked as read, unread, or updated since last read by the user viewing the forums.

Integration to Intelligent Search

When a user posts a topic in a forum as a question, Discussion Forums will invoke Intelligent Search to determine if there are any answers or related information available to display from forums and other content sources; or even determine if marketing promotions should be offered to the user posting the question. Forum content is searched along with metadata, such as the replies to questions that have been marked as helpful or a solution. This enables Intelligent Search to present only the replies that have helped previous users resolve similar problems.

Delivering Information through User Subscriptions

With InQuira Discussion Forums, users can auto-subscribe to any topics they create, triggering automated email notifications any time someone replies. System administrators may pre-define subscriptions from a combination of variables, allowing a number of subscriptions to be created, logically named, and offered to the user community. Subscriptions can be set to expire automatically, and users can renew or cancel a subscription. With Information Center, subscriptions are inline with the web application, allowing users to subscribe to content in context with where they are in the web application.

User Reputation Model

Users accumulate points in the system based upon the value of their contributions. For example, if a user replies to a question posted to the forums, and the person who posted the question identifies the reply as helpful or a solution, the contributing user receives points. The point system is configurable for each activity and can be different for external web users and internal users. Points are accumulated and top users are identified on Information Center and provided with more privileges in the system.
